The “Nursing Process Workshop – III,” organized by the Faculty of Health Sciences, Department of Nursing at Lokman Hekim University, was held on 18 February 2026 at the LHU A Block Conference Hall. The workshop provided a multidimensional discussion on the scientific foundations of the nursing process and its practical implications in clinical settings.

The session was delivered by Assist. Prof. Betül KILIÇ (Gülhane Vocational School of Health Services), who presented a comprehensive perspective on the systematic structure of nursing care and the role of the nursing process in clinical decision-making.

The Nursing Process as a Framework for Systematic Care

Throughout the workshop, the stages of the nursing process—assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation—were examined not only from a theoretical standpoint but also through clinical case analyses.

Dr. KILIÇ emphasized that the nursing process should not be regarded merely as a documentation tool; rather, it represents a structured professional approach that directly influences patient safety, quality of care, and clinical effectiveness.

Critical Thinking and Clinical Decision-Making

One of the central themes of the workshop was the relationship between the nursing process and critical thinking skills. Case-based discussions allowed participants to explore how systematic approaches enhance accuracy and consistency in clinical decision-making.

The nursing process was highlighted as a professional guide that supports healthcare professionals in managing uncertainty and delivering patient-centered care.

Bridging Academia and Practice

The workshop also addressed the integration of academic knowledge with clinical application. Discussions focused on strengthening the transition between theoretical education and practical implementation, standardizing care plans, and incorporating evidence-based practice into routine care.
