Practical Skills and Clinical Awareness-Rich Summer Program for Students of the Scientific Research Society of the Faculty of Medicine at Ağrı İbrahim Çeçen University at Lokman Hekim University

Lokman Hekim University Faculty of Medicine hosted a special Summer Support Program for students of Basic Medical Sciences (BAT) at Ağrı İbrahim Çeçen University (AİÇÜ) Faculty of Medicine between July 26 and 30. The program was conducted at the university's state-of-the-art VITAL Simulation Center. Planned and executed by the Department of Medical Education, this intensive program provided medical students with the opportunity to enhance their fundamental clinical skills, broaden their professional vision, and familiarize themselves with the clinical environment over the course of four days.

Intensive and Practical Training at the VITAL Simulation Center

At the heart of the program was the VITAL Simulation Center, equipped with the powerful infrastructure of Lokman Hekim University. Following the opening speech on “Becoming a Physician,” students had the opportunity to experience simulation-based clinical skills modules such as “Module 1: Put Your Hand Under the Stone,” “Module 2: The Code of Interventions,” and “Module 3: First Steps in Life Support.” The program also included theoretical-practical integrated sessions such as “Module 4: Case-Based Anatomy Adventure” and “Module 5: Microbiology Laboratory: Cultivation, Culture, and Staining,” as well as the “Module 5: Social Interaction and Communication in the Art of Medicine” module. Students who observed the real clinical environment through the “Pulse of Medicine: Witnessing Clinical Life” sessions were also supported by the program's social dimension, an Ankara tour.

Academic Orientation and Successful Results

The program was enriched with special sessions covering basic clinical concepts, effective communication skills, medical roles, and academic orientation, conducted in collaboration with faculty members and volunteer peer educators. Feedback from participating AİÇÜ students was extremely positive. These positive responses clearly demonstrated the impact of such practical and supportive programs offered by Lokman Hekim University Faculty of Medicine and VITAL Simulation Center on students. The success of the program also suggested the need to expand similar collaborations and summer support programs to other medical faculties, further highlighting Lokman Hekim University's contribution to medical education.
