Ankara Science High School Students Experience the “Wearing the White Coat” Program at the Vital Simulation Center
As part of its high school–university outreach activities, Lokman Hekim University hosted students from Ankara Science High School at the Vital Simulation Center on December 16. The program, titled “Wearing the White Coat,” offered students an opportunity to gain first-hand insight into the healthcare field through both informative and practice-oriented experiences.
A Practical Introduction to the Healthcare Environment
During the program, students were introduced to fundamental healthcare concepts and were able to observe and participate in simulation-based practices designed to reflect real clinical settings. Supported by the advanced infrastructure of the Vital Simulation Center, participants gained practical awareness of patient safety principles, basic clinical procedures, and the functioning of healthcare teams.
“Wearing the White Coat”: Building Professional Awareness
The “Wearing the White Coat” program was designed to help students experience, even for a single day, the responsibilities and professional discipline associated with healthcare professions. Throughout the program, students were informed about key professional values such as ethical conduct, precision, responsibility, and teamwork, which are essential components of healthcare practice.
Supporting Early Career Awareness
The event aimed to contribute to students’ early career awareness by allowing them to explore the healthcare field in a structured and realistic environment. Such application-oriented programs at the high school level support students in identifying their interests and approaching future academic and career decisions with greater clarity.
Lokman Hekim University continues to organize experience-based educational activities that support young individuals in their academic and professional development, while contributing to the cultivation of qualified future professionals in the field of health sciences.
