Dear Prospective Students,
The following students are exempt from the Foreign Language Placement and Proficiency Examination:
a) Students who, during at least the last three years, have completed their secondary education at institutions attended by citizens of a country where English, the designated medium of instruction, is spoken as the native language;
b) Students who have obtained the minimum scores specified below, within the last two years including the year of application, from the international foreign language examinations listed in Table 1 and recognized as equivalent by the Council of Higher Education are exempt from the English preparatory program.

The result documents obtained from national and international examinations recognized as equivalent by the Council of Higher Education must have been issued within the last two years, including the year of application. These documents must be submitted to and approved by the Directorate of LHUDİLMER by the end of the course add-drop period specified in the academic calendar.
For internationally recognized examinations accepted as equivalent by the Council of Higher Education, the validity of a student’s base score shall be determined based on the validity period of the relevant examination. The result document must not have expired.
Students who have successfully completed the English preparatory program at another university shall also take the proficiency examination, and the necessary procedures shall be carried out according to the score obtained in this examination.
Students admitted to programs in which English preparatory education is compulsory, but who do not meet the conditions specified in this article, shall be enrolled in the English preparatory program.
Pursuant to Article 6, Paragraph 2, Subparagraph (d) of the Directive on Determining the Equivalency of International Foreign Language Examinations, the results of equivalent examination sessions held in Türkiye shall not be accepted as equivalent unless the examinations are administered in buildings belonging to state universities.
