Lokman Hekim University Department of Audiology organized an awareness exhibition titled “Hearing Throughout Life” as part of World Hearing Day on March 3, held in the LHÜ A Block Foyer Area. The exhibition aimed to highlight the decisive role of hearing in quality of life and emphasize the importance of protecting hearing health at every age.
Lifelong Approach to Hearing Health
The exhibition emphasized that hearing loss is not only a condition that occurs in old age; it requires early diagnosis, regular follow-up, and a conscious approach from the newborn period onwards. Basic information on protecting hearing health, the importance of early diagnosis, and preventive approaches were conveyed with visual materials.
Participants were informed about the causes of hearing loss, risk factors, and rehabilitation processes, while a general overview of hearing aids and assistive listening technologies was provided. The informational panels and materials in the exhibition area addressed the individual and societal dimensions of hearing health.
Emphasis on Awareness and Social Responsibility
The “Hearing for Life” exhibition aimed not only to share information but also to create lasting awareness about hearing health. Topics such as noise exposure, daily habits related to ear health, and the importance of early screening were highlighted.
Throughout the event, students, academic and administrative staff, and visitors toured the exhibition area, gaining access to current and fundamental information on hearing health. The exhibition contributed to raising awareness about hearing health within the university community.
