    Exemplary Cooperation from Lokman Hekim University and Turkish Red Crescent: Disabled and Elderly Care Formator Training Completed Successfully

    The Disabled and Elderly Care Formator Training, organized to improve the knowledge and skills of Turkish Red Crescent volunteers in the field of health and to train well-equipped individuals in areas that society needs, took place between 23-27 December 2024. The training was delivered by Lokman Hekim University's expert lecturers and aimed to increase TRCS' training capacity by providing an important learning experience for volunteers.

    Purpose and Scope of the Training

    This special training program was designed to enable volunteers to better understand the needs of disabled and elderly individuals and provide professional support. During the training, Turkish Red Crescent volunteers developed their theoretical and practical skills by receiving information from Lokman Hekim University's expert lecturers. At the end of this process, it was aimed to increase the training capacity of the Turkish Red Crescent and create a wider impact in the society.

    During the training, volunteers were provided with information on many important topics such as the care of elderly and disabled individuals, identifying their needs, and methods of providing physical and emotional support. At the same time, participants were given the opportunity to put what they learned into practice through practical trainings.

    Basis of the Protocol and Areas of Cooperation

    This training program was organized within the framework of the cooperation protocol signed between Lokman Hekim University and the Turkish Red Crescent on June 7, 2024. The protocol covers various collaborations in the field of health, especially the Sevgi Elderly Care Project. With this agreement, the two institutions aim to develop a more effective and efficient cooperation in education and health services.

    The protocol aims to contribute to the existing education programs of the Turkish Red Crescent and Lokman Hekim University in the fields of professional practice, internship and research. In addition, joint activities and cooperation strategies in areas such as health and social services allow for a broader scope of projects.

    Common Steps for Society

    While our Rectorate emphasized the long-term benefits of the protocol for society, representatives of the Turkish Red Crescent stated that this cooperation offers a unique opportunity to increase the knowledge and skills of volunteers. Volunteers who have successfully completed the training aim to improve the quality of life of elderly and disabled individuals by touching their lives with this training.

    This cooperation between the Turkish Red Crescent and Lokman Hekim University will enable more effective services to be provided to various segments of society. In addition, the active role of volunteers in this process will contribute to strengthening the culture of solidarity and solidarity in society.

    Following this exemplary training program, the two organizations are expected to reach out to different segments of society with more comprehensive projects in the coming period. The cooperation between the Turkish Red Crescent and Lokman Hekim University will play an important role in strengthening public health and social welfare.
