The Healthy Life Healthy School project is a project that combines the four main objectives of our university/faculty: education, health service delivery, research and social contribution. Our project also supports the efforts to strengthen primary health care services and to ensure that family physicians provide more effective service, which is also on the agenda of the Ministry of Health.
Lokman Hekim University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Public Health, Gülhane Training and Research Hospital, Department of Family Medicine and Sincan District Health Directorate are the executors of the project. Other stakeholders of the project are the Ministry of Health General Directorate of Public Health, Ankara Health Directorate Public Health Services Directorate, Sincan District Governorship, Sincan Municipality and Sincan District Directorate of National Education.
The target groups of the project are teachers, who are role models for students and prepare them for life, and students, who are the future of our country. Improving and protecting the health of our teachers and students and improving their quality of life by preventing diseases are among our long-term goals.
The project, which we set out with the main purpose of combating non-communicable diseases, which are among the leading health problems of our country, as in developed and developing countries all over the world, includes the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of these diseases in primary health care institutions. In the first step of the project, a screening for some non-communicable diseases and risk factors related to these diseases in teachers and interventions for screening results will be carried out. Depending on the results obtained in this step of the project, different studies for teachers and students are planned.
It is hoped that our Healthy Life Healthy School project, which started in a district in our capital city and will lead to an exemplary mobility and awareness on behalf of primary health care services, will pave the way for its implementation throughout the country.
