Turkish Ambassador to Washington Sedat Önal held a meeting with Lokman Hekim University Chairman of the Board of Trustees Dr. Mehmet Altuğ and Rector Prof. Dr. Fatih Gültekin before the “Halal Life Panel” event to be held in the United States on March 8-9, 2025.
During the meeting, the details of the Halal Life Panel to be organized next year, the university's work in the field of global health and halal life, and the cooperation that can be developed between the two countries in the field of education and health were discussed.
Preparation for Halal Life Panel
Halal Life Panel stands out as an international platform covering topics such as halal life, health, food safety and sustainability. The event aims to bring together experts, academics and industry representatives from around the world to promote halal life standards on a global scale.
Ambassador Önal said at the meeting: “Halal Life Panel offers an important opportunity to reinforce Turkey's leadership in the field of halal life and to develop international cooperation in this field. Lokman Hekim University's expertise and experience in this field will contribute greatly to the success of the event.”
The Role of Lokman Hekim University
Lokman Hekim University has an important position both in Turkey and in the international arena with its work in the field of halal life and health. In his speech at the meeting, Dr. Mehmet Altuğ, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the University, said, “Halal life is not only a way of eating, but also a philosophy of life. Halal Life Panel is of great importance to carry our work in this field to international platforms and to raise awareness worldwide.”
Rector Prof. Dr. Fatih Gültekin, referring to the university's research in the field of halal life and health, said, “As Lokman Hekim University, we continue our efforts to strengthen the scientific foundations of halal life and contribute to the establishment of international standards in this field. Halal Life Panel will be an important step to bring these efforts to a wider audience.”
Education and Health Cooperation Between Two Countries
Cooperation between Turkey and the US in the fields of education and health was also discussed during the meeting. Ambassador Önal emphasized that efforts should be accelerated to implement scientific research, student exchange programs and joint projects between the two countries.
