Accreditation Journey of the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics
Studies on accreditation, one of the goals of our department in the 2022-2026 Strategic Plan, were initiated as of the 2021-2022 academic year. On February 20, 2024, the accreditation process became official with the letter of intent submitted to the “Health Sciences Education Programs Evaluation and Accreditation Board (SABAK)”. On March 28, 2024, as a result of the acceptance letter sent by SABAK stating that “we can enter the accreditation acceptance process”, the first stage of accreditation was completed on August 30, 2024 with the submission of the “Self-Assessment Report”, which we prepared with long, tiring and devoted efforts, to SABAK. The process continued with the visit of the “SABAK Evaluation Team” to our department on January 5-7, 2025. On January 31, 2025, following our responses to the draft report sent by the evaluation team on January 16, 2025, we were informed on March 20, 2025, that we were accredited for 5 years for the years 2025-2030, which made us happy and proud.
This result was achieved with the comprehensive and devoted teamwork of the entire academic staff of our department under the chairmanship of our former Head of Department Assoc. Prof. Ayhan DAĞ. As a department, we have experienced together that the way to be accredited for 5 years is through a theoretical and practical education and training program at international standards and a disciplined, harmonious, hardworking and devoted teamwork with strong communication skills. We saw our strength and achieved the result we wanted.
Graduates of the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics are defined as “Health Professionals” according to the law numbered 1219. The education that the personnel who will work in the field of health will receive, the places where they receive education, laboratories and professional practice opportunities (internships) are of great importance. We believe that it is valuable to have the reliability and validity of the education we provide accredited by an independent organization thanks to our laboratories, classrooms and infrastructure equipped with advanced technological equipment in accordance with the conditions of the day and our competent, well-equipped and strong teaching staff with the support of the Senior Management of our University, which we always feel with us. In this context, the accreditation of our department is of great importance in terms of guaranteeing high standards and increasing quality through continuous improvement.
Once again, we would like to thank everyone who unconditionally offered their labor and support in this process and stood by us. We have started our preparations for the second 5 years without stopping... We are proud, we are happy...
