Lokman Hekim University Faculty of Medicine was full of March 14th Medical Day Activities
Lokman Hekim University (LHU) Faculty of Medicine brought together academicians, students and healthcare professionals with the events organized between 10-14 March 2025 as part of the 14 March Medical Day. Intertwined with science, art, culture and history, the program gave the participants unforgettable moments.
Events Started with Opening Speeches
On Monday, March 10, the opening speeches of the events started with the presentation of Prof. Dr. Berna DURSUN, Dean of Lokman Hekim University Faculty of Medicine, on “14 March Medical Day and White Coat”. Then Prof. Dr. Hasan OZAN shared the requirements and ethical values of the medical profession with the participants with his speech titled “Being a Good and Successful Physician”.
In the afternoon, a meaningful event was organized with the participation of valuable students from Halise Arslan Special Education Schools. At the end of the event, students from Halise Arslan Special Education Schools presented the picture they made with their own hands for the academicians and students of the Faculty of Medicine to our Dean Prof. Dr. Adile Berna DURSUN. The event was moderated by Prof. Dr. Pınar Uran KURTGÖZ, Head of the Department of Child and Adolescent Mental Health and Diseases at Lokman Hekim University Faculty of Medicine. The day ended with a Photography Exhibition at the Ground Floor Foyer.

Tuesday, March 11 was full of art and interactive activities. First of all, the music concert performed by Lokman Hekim University Chamber Music Ensemble attracted great attention. Under the direction of Prof. Dr. Şükrü Volkan ÖZGÜVEN, this event revealed the connection between music and medicine. Then, a panel titled “Interactive Event: About Life” panel was held. The panel was moderated by Prof. Dr. Nesrin ÇOBANOĞLU YÜKSEL, Head of the Department of Medical Ethics and History of Medicine, Gazi University Faculty of Medicine, and Prof. Dr. Ülkü AYPAR (Head of the Department of Anesthesiology and Reanimation, Faculty of Medicine) was the speaker.
Handicraft and Art Workshops Attracted Interest
On Wednesday, March 12, workshops were organized to highlight artistic talents. The Wood Painting Workshop was led by instructors Sibel URAN and Pınar URAN, while Dilara KESİMLİ AYTEPE guided the students in the Ceramic Workshop. These workshops, organized in cooperation with Lokman Hekim University Social Awareness Unit (SASU) and Young Office, gave the participants pleasant moments. At the end of the event, our dean presented awards to our instructors for their support.
March 14th Medical Day Award Ceremony and Film Critique
On Thursday, March 13th, one of the most meaningful events of the Medical Day, the “March 14th Medical Day II Photography Contest Award Ceremony” was held. At the event, which started at 13.30, the winning photographs were exhibited and the prizes were awarded. The winner of the photography contest was Fatma Zehra FİDAN. After FİDAN, who won the first prize with her photo taken in Baku, Begüm ERDOĞMUŞ and Eren AYDIN won the second and third prizes, respectively.
Then, “MGUF Classical Turkish Music Ensemble Concert” was organized at 14.00. This concert, in which physician artists took the stage, gave the audience pleasant moments. The last event of the day was “Film Criticism: Medicine from the Perspective of Cinema”. In this event, the intersection points of medicine and cinema were discussed.
