Lokman Hekim University Faculty of Medicine hosted a meaningful and enthusiastic event on March 14th Medical Day. Turkish and English Medicine Program students took their first steps on their journey as physicians at the White Coat Wearing Ceremony held at the State Hydraulic Works Conference Hall. The ceremony witnessed emotional moments as the students put on their white coats, the symbol of their professional lives, accompanied by the proud looks of their families and academicians.
The ceremony started with a moment of silence and the National Anthem, followed by the opening speech of Prof. Dr. Adile Berna DURSUN, Dean of Lokman Hekim University Faculty of Medicine. Drawing attention to the responsibilities of the medical profession and the perseverance and dedication that must be shown on this path in her speech, our dean said, “Today we are witnessing the first steps of future physicians here. The white coat is not just a garment; it also symbolizes the ethical values of our profession and dedication to human health. I wish all our students success in this meaningful journey.”
In his speech, Rector Prof. Dr. Fatih GÜLTEKİN emphasized the critical role of the profession of medicine in public health and said, “Each of our students who step into this sacred profession assumes the responsibility of protecting and maintaining human health. You will not only heal patients with your knowledge and experience, but also contribute to the world of science.”
Dr. Mehmet ALTUĞ, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, addressed the students and said, “The white coat is a symbol of purity, honesty and professional commitment. Today, you are taking the first step into your professional life by wearing these aprons. I wish you success and ease on this journey.”
After the speeches, the medical students were invited to the stage and put on their white coats from the hands of the academicians. The excitement and pride of the students and their families was evident throughout the ceremony. Students wearing their white coats did not neglect to take photos with their families and friends.
Lokman Hekim University Faculty of Medicine was proud to prepare its students for the future with this meaningful event and once again emphasized the importance of the profession of medicine. The ceremony ended with a group photo and congratulations.
