Students of the Opticianry Program at Lokman Hekim University Vocational School of Health Services attended the SILMO Istanbul Optical Fair, held in Istanbul on 19–22 November 2025. The visit was carried out under the guidance of Dr. Havva Sibel KURT and Optician Ercan AKTÜRK, who provided academic and professional support throughout the event.
SILMO Istanbul serves not only as a gathering point for leading manufacturers and designers in the optical and eyewear industry but also as a dynamic environment where the technological, material and design transitions shaping the sector can be observed firsthand. During the visit, students examined emerging materials used in optical products, explored innovative approaches in frame and lens design and gained insight into production trends expected to influence the future of opticianry.
In addition to learning about industry advancements, students had the opportunity to review professional equipment used in opticianry practice, which enriched their understanding of applied techniques and supported the integration of theoretical knowledge with real-world observations. The experience provided a valuable field-based learning opportunity that contributed meaningfully to their professional development.
