What is Opticianry?

In our country, ophthalmologists and opticians work together in the field of visual health. While ophthalmologists have duties such as performing surgical procedures, performing examinations and writing prescriptions; opticians sell glasses, lenses and lenses in accordance with the prescription written by the ophthalmologist.

An Optician must have an Optician licence in order to work in an optical store or to operate his own optical store.

2. In which fields can our students work after graduating from Opticianry Programme?

Those who successfully complete the Opticianry programme can work as a Responsible Manager in actively working optical stores. They can also open their own optical store if they wish.

There is no recruitment or appointment related to the title of Optician in the public sector.

3. Which department can be passed with the Vertical Transfer Examination (DGS) after Associate Degree Education?

Graduated students can register to undergraduate programmes with DGS if there is a quota related to their fields. With the vertical transfer exam (DGS) held by ÖSYM, "Emergency Aid and Disaster Management, Physics, Physics Engineering, Optical and Acoustic Engineering, Health Management" can be transferred to the undergraduate programme.

4. In which score type does the Opticianry Programme take students?

Opticianry Programme accepts students in Basic Proficiency Test (TYT) score type.
