  • When was the Faculty of Pharmacy established and when did it start education?

    Lokman Hekim University Faculty of Pharmacy Turkish Program was established in 2017 and started its activities in the 2018-2019 academic year. At the end of the 2022-2023 academic year, the Faculty of Pharmacy Turkish Program gave its first graduates.

    The Faculty of Pharmacy English Program was established in 2021 and started its activities in the 2018-2019 academic year. At the end of the 2026-2027 academic year, the Faculty of Pharmacy English Program will give its first graduates.

    What is the language of instruction at the Faculty of Pharmacy?

    Lokman Hekim University, Faculty of Pharmacy has Turkish and English programs. The language of instruction in the Turkish program is Turkish. In the English program, the language of instruction is English (100%).

    Where is the Faculty of Pharmacy education held?

    Lokman Hekim University Faculty of Pharmacy is the first Faculty of Pharmacy established within a foundation university in Ankara. Education at the Faculty of Pharmacy is held in our Söğütözü campus, which is 8 km from the city center, 12 km from the ring road, 4 km from the Intercity Bus Terminal (AŞTİ), 8.5 km from the YHT Station and 34 km from Esenboğa Airport. Clinical Pharmacy Practice courses are held at our university hospital, Lokman Hekim Ankara Hospital. In addition, we have a simulation pharmacy for our students in the Vital Simulation Center located in Block C of our University.

    What are the physical infrastructure facilities for practical courses?

    We have five laboratories equipped with the latest technology and modern equipment for our students' practical courses (laboratory). The equipment park of our university's Technology Center (TEKMER) is also utilized.

    What kind of education system is applied in the Faculty of Pharmacy?

    Education in our faculty is carried out in accordance with the Pharmacy Core Education Program (ECZÇEP). A semester course passing system is applied. Education is in the form of 10 semesters (5 years) and the minimum credit that the student must take each semester is 30 ECTS. For graduation, at least 300 ECTS and 130 days of internship and vocational training must be completed.

    The internships in our curriculum are planned as community pharmacy internship, hospital pharmacy internship, internships in public institutions and organizations, and industry internships covering the relevant units of the pharmaceutical and cosmetics sector. Thus, our students are offered the opportunity to gain knowledge and experience in different application areas of the pharmacy profession.

    Is there an attendance requirement?

    Attendance is compulsory for 70% of our theoretical courses and 80% of our practical courses.

    Is there a preparatory program?

    Language preparatory education is provided for the Faculty of Pharmacy English Program.

    Is it possible to work in research projects during the student period at Lokman Hekim University?

    Lokman Hekim University Faculty of Pharmacy has basically adopted a student-oriented education model. Therefore, there is a “student assistantship” application that will help our students who will graduate from the Faculty to gain the culture and habit of scientific research at their student stages. In this context, our students have the opportunity to work in scientific research projects under the supervision of faculty members of our Faculty. In addition, student projects are carried out through TÜBİTAK 2209A and 2209B University Students Research Projects Support Programs.
