On June 25, 2025, the Department of Occupational Therapy at the Faculty of Health Sciences, Lokman Hekim University, organized a “DIR Floortime 101 Training” for students.
The in-person training was attended by 43 occupational therapy students. The training aimed to enhance the professional knowledge and skills of occupational therapy students who wish to work with children exhibiting developmental differences. The training comprehensively covered the fundamental principles of the DIR (Developmental, Individual-differences, Relationship-based) model and the therapeutic applications of the Floortime approach.
The training was delivered by Dr. Egemen Nakışçı. Nakışçı, whose area of expertise is neurodevelopmental disorders in childhood and family-based intervention approaches, is also an internationally accredited trainer in DIR Floortime education. During the training, students' learning process was supported through theoretical knowledge transfer, case examples, and practical exercises.
Students who successfully completed the training received internationally recognized participation certificates. Through this training, students gained awareness of the role and impact of the Floortime approach in occupational therapy practices.
As the Occupational Therapy Department at Lokman Hekim University, we plan to continue similar training activities to ensure that our students are exposed to current scientific approaches and to support their professional development.
