The medium of instruction at Lokman Hekim University is Turkish. Therefore, prospective students are expected to have sufficient Turkish language proficiency to follow and understand the courses.

Candidates who are eligible to enrol must submit documentary evidence of their Turkish proficiency level. Students who are unable to provide proof of Turkish proficiency will not be permitted to commence their studies. In such cases, they will be placed in the Turkish Language Preparatory Program prior to starting their faculty programme.

Acceptable Turkish proficiency certificates may be issued by Turkish Language Teaching, Research and Application Centers of universities or by Yunus Emre Institutes.

Assessment of Turkish Proficiency Levels

C1 Level: Turkish proficiency is sufficient. The student may begin their studies at the University.

B2–B1 Level: Turkish proficiency is not yet sufficient, but it can be improved. The student may be registered in the undergraduate programme they are entitled to attend and may start their studies on the condition that they take Turkish language courses. However, the student must document that they have reached C1 Turkish proficiency no later than the beginning of the third academic year. If the student’s Turkish level remains at B2–B1 at the end of this period, they may not continue their studies until they reach C1; their registration will be suspended during this time.

A2–A1 Level: Turkish proficiency is absent or insufficient. Students at A2–A1 level are required to improve their Turkish proficiency to at least B1–B2 by the beginning of the third academic year. This requirement applies without affecting the student’s entitlement to the undergraduate programme they have been admitted to. In addition, students must reach C1 level within the following one-year period.
