Institute Introduction
Lokman Hekim University was established pursuant to Law No. 7063, published in the Official Gazette dated 20 December 2017 (No. 30276). The Graduate School of Health Sciences is one of the academic units founded under this law. The University commenced its academic activities in the 2018–2019 academic year.
Since its establishment, the Graduate School has continued its academic development under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Belma Gümüşel, Prof. Dr. Zehra Gölbaşı, Prof. Dr. Sulhiye Yıldız, and is currently directed by Prof. Dr. Belgin Akın.
The Graduate School of Health Sciences at Lokman Hekim University aims to transform health-related research into knowledge at both national and international levels, to educate ethically responsible scholars, and to provide a dynamic postgraduate learning environment based on a student-centred education approach. It actively supports international collaboration among academics and students in education and research activities.
The first postgraduate programme of the Graduate School, the MSc Programme in Nutrition and Dietetics (Thesis), was launched in 2018. Today, the Graduate School offers 6 non-thesis master’s programmes, 27 thesis-based master’s programmes, and 13 doctoral programmes across a wide range of health-related disciplines.
Throughout their postgraduate education, students undertake both theoretical and practical coursework. Research activities of the Graduate School are primarily conducted within the framework of master’s and doctoral thesis studies. As a health-focused academic centre, the Institute provides students with extensive research opportunities.
The Graduate School is located on the C Block campus of Lokman Hekim University and offers a modern learning environment with dedicated classrooms and examination halls.
