MATERNITY AND GYNECOLOGY NURSING DOCTORAL PROGRAM
Lokman Hekim University Maternity and Gynecology Nursing Doctoral Program was opened with the decision of the Higher Education Executive Board dated 26.08.2020. The education period of the program is 4 years and the language of instruction is Turkish.

Enrolment Acceptance Conditions
Student applications for the proposed program, entrance examinations (written / interview), calculation of the overall achievement score and placement of students are made in line with Lokman Hekim University Health Sciences University Regulation on Graduate Education and Training. In addition, the special conditions required for the students who apply with the recommendation of the relevant department and the decision of the institute board of directors before each application period, the entrance exam place and date are determined and announced before the application.
Students who have graduated from Maternity and Gynecology Nursing and Midwifery Master programs of universities and candidates who are deemed appropriate by the Institute Board with the recommendation of the Academic Board of the Department can apply to the Maternity and Gynecology Nursing Doctoral Program. Turkish or foreign students who have completed their graduate program in foreign countries must have the equivalence or recognition document they will receive from the Higher Education Council (YÖK). In addition, candidates who will apply for the program are expected to have an academic Personnel and Postgraduate Education Entrance Exam (ALES) (Mathematics – Science / Turkish – Mathematics) score to be determined by the Institute Board, provided that they are not less than 55. In addition, the candidates must be received a score from the Central foreign language exams accepted by the Higher Education Institution other than their mother tongue and international foreign language exams accepted by the Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM) or a score equivalent to be determined by the Senate upon the recommendation of the Academic Board of the Department and the decision of the Institute Board, on condition that no less than 55 score. Students who meet the application requirements are taken to the scientific evaluation exam (written and / or interview). The calculation of the general success grade is made by considering the Academic Personnel and Postgraduate Education Entrance Exam (ALES) score, Foreign Language score, master’s degree GPA, and Scientific evaluation examination. According to the general success grade ranking, within the specified quota, the student is entitled to final registration.
Degree Awarded, Requirements, and Rules
In order for the student to earn a in Maternity and Gynecology Nursing Doctoral Degree, The student must complete at least 240 ECTS credits including at least seven courses, seminar, proficiency exam, thesis proposal and thesis study, provided that a total of twenty-one credits and not less than 60 ECTS in one academic year. must complete his credit. In order for the student to complete this credit, there are compulsory and elective courses in the program. The student completes the total credit in eight (4 years) terms. The duration of doctoral education can be up to 12 terms at most. Doctoral program courses must be completed successfully within a maximum of two years and with a GPA of at least 3.00. At the end of this period, students who cannot successfully complete their courses or have a GPA of 3.00 or higher enter the doctoral qualifying exam. In order to enter the Doctoral Proficiency Exam, it is necessary to have a score of at least 60 out of 100 from the central foreign language exams accepted by the Higher Education Institution or to receive the equivalent score from the international foreign language exams accepted by the Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM). The Thesis Monitoring Committee is appointed for the student who is successful in the PhD Qualifying Exam, with the recommendation of the relevant Institute Department and the approval of the relevant administrative board, to approve the student’s doctoral thesis proposal and to monitor the doctoral thesis study process in the following terms. The student who successfully completes the doctoral qualifying exam defends verbally in front of The Thesis Monitoring Committee his thesis proposal, which includes the purpose, method and future study plan of the thesis to be made within six months at the latest. The student who is successful in the thesis proposal starts research studies on the thesis subject under the supervision of the thesis advisor. In order for the student’s thesis to be finalized, at least three The Thesis Monitoring Committee reports must be submitted. The thesis defence examination consists of the presentation of the thesis study and the following question and answer section. Students whose thesis is accepted are considered successful.

Recognition of Prior Learning is issued in accordance with Lokman Hekim University Regulation on Graduate Education and Training.

The aim of the program is to handle verification and information retrieval from an existing holistic perspective, to train nurses who can obtain new knowledge with high level of evidence by using integrative and advanced research methods for solving problems, and who can apply and teach.

The most important employment area for the individuals who graduated from the Maternity and Gynecology Nursing Doctoral Program is to be in the academic staff required by our country in the departments of universities that provide nursing and midwifery education. Apart from that, nurses with a doctoral degree can work as specialist clinical nurses, managers or educating nurses in women’s health and diseases clinics of public or private hospitals.

Students can apply for associate professorships in the relevant field if they complete the necessary academic studies with the candidate who has received a Doctoral Degree.
Assessment and Evaluation
‘Lokman Hekim University Regulation on Graduate Education and Training’ is taken as a basis in the grading of all educational studies and examinations of the student.
In order for a student to graduate from the Maternity and Gynecology Nursing Doctoral Program, he / she must have completed all the courses in the program, must provide a minimum of 240 ECTS credits, and have a GPA of at least 3.00 out of 4.00. In addition, the student must be successful in the doctoral qualification exam.
In order to enter the Doctoral Qualifying Exam, it is necessary to have a score of at least 60 out of 100 from the central foreign language exams accepted by the Higher Education Institution or to get the equivalent score from the international foreign language exams accepted by the Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM). The student who is successful in the qualifying examination must prepare his / her doctoral thesis in the field of Maternity and Gynecology Nursing under the guidance of her advisor and successfully present it orally in front of the jury members. After the completion of the thesis examination, the jury decides on the thesis to be accepted, rejected or corrected by absolute majority. The graduation date of the student is the date he / she defended his / her thesis in front of the jury and succeeded.
Program courses must be successfully completed in two years at most, with a minimum GPA of 2.50.
