    Lokman Hekim University continues to develop proactive approaches to protect the physical and mental health of industrial workers.

    October 27 World Occupational Therapy Day was celebrated this year with the motto “Occupational Therapy for All”. Occupational therapy stands out as an important health approach to improve the quality of life of individuals.

    This year, Lokman Hekim University, Faculty of Health Sciences, Department of Occupational Therapy identified the apprentices of the industry as the target group. The event, organized with the motto “Apprentices of Industry; Masters of the Future”, was held on Friday, October 25, 2024 between 09.30-13.00 at the A block conference hall of our university. At the meeting, the success stories of apprentices were shared with industry managers and apprenticeship training institutions.

    Opening speeches were made by A. Ayşe KARADUMAN, Head of Occupational Therapy Department, Osman TEKİN, Social Projects Coordinator, Prof. Dr. Murat YÜLEK, Rector of Ostim Technical University, Prof. Dr. Fatih GÜLTEKİN, Rector of Lokman Hekim University and Dr. Mehmet ALTUĞ, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Lokman Hekim University. In their speeches, the importance of health and occupational therapy was emphasized.

    In the event, under the direction of Prof. Dr. A. Ayşe KARADUMAN, apprentices from the industry Abdullah Emin PARLAK and Ömer Faruk DOKGÖZ and Lecturer. Assist. Başak Çağla ARSLAN, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Barkın KÖSE, Yiğit Akü CEO Hamit YİĞİT and Ostim President Orhan AYDIN took part as panelists. In the panel, health promotion and vocational rehabilitation issues were discussed.

    The importance of occupational therapy in determining suitability for work and improving the quality of life of employees was emphasized. The needs of the industry and the accessibility of occupational therapy for everyone were discussed with the “Industry Interviews” conducted by the students. This event once again demonstrated the importance of occupational therapy for industrial workers.
