    PHARMACEUTICAL RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT STUDIES MASTER PROGRAM (WITH THESIS)

    General Information Pharmaceutical Research and Development Studies Master Program (With Thesis) was approved by the decision taken at the Higher Education Executive Board meeting on 15.05.2019 and was opened within the body of Lokman Hekim University Health Sciences Institute. The program is carried out by faculty members who are experts in the field of pharmacy. In addition, people who are still working in the pharmaceutical industry and public sector and who are experts in their fields are assigned as visiting lecturers at Lokman Hekim University and receive support. The language of instruction is Turkish.  Degree Awarded Master’s Degree in Pharmaceutical Research and Development Studies  Acceptance and Enrolment Conditions Student applications, acceptances, and final registrations to the Pharmaceutical Research and Development Studies Master Program (With Thesis) are made in accordance with Lokman Hekim University Health Sciences University Regulation on Graduate Education and Training. In addition, the special conditions required for the students who apply with the recommendation of the Department and the decision of the Institute Administrative Board before each application period, the entrance exam place and date are determined and announced before the application. Graduates of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Faculty of Science’s Biology, Molecular Biology or Chemistry departments, Faculty of Engineering’s Chemical Engineering departments and graduates who are eligible by the Academic Board of the Department of Bachelor's / Master's degree can apply to the Pharmaceutical Research and Development Studies Master Program (With Thesis). Turkish or foreign students who have completed their undergraduate program in foreign countries must have the equivalence or recognition document they will receive from the Higher Education Council (YÖK). In the applications to the program, it is required to have Academic Personnel and Postgraduate Education Entrance Exam (ALES) (Mathematics - Science / Turkish - Mathematics) score determined by the Institute Board, provided that it is not less than 55. Students who meet the application requirements are taken to the scientific evaluation exam (written and / or interview). The calculation of the general success grade is made by considering the Academic Personnel and Postgraduate Education Entrance Exam (ALES) score, the undergraduate graduation grade average and the results of the Scientific evaluation examination. According to the general success grade ranking, within the specified quota, the student is entitled to final registration.  Recognition of Prior Learning Successful students who have studied at least one term in the graduate programs of the university or other higher education institutions can apply to transfer to another graduate program at the university. In order for the applications to be accepted, the student must have quotas for undergraduate transfer students, the student must meet the student admission requirements of the graduate program to which they want to transfer, and must be successful in each of the courses taken by studying at least one term of graduate education. Acceptance and adjustment of students applying for undergraduate transfer is carried out in accordance with the relevant articles of Lokman Hekim University Regulation on Graduate Education and Training. Qualification Conditions and Rules  In order for a student enrolled in the graduate program to graduate from the program, it must meet the conditions specified in the Lokman Hekim University Regulation on Graduate Education and Training.  Aim of Program The aim of the Pharmaceutical Research and Development Studies Master Program (With Thesis) is to provide qualified graduates who can carry out the research and development studies required by the pharmaceutical, medical device and cosmetic industry. With this program, it is aimed to train pharmacists who are equipped with up-to-date knowledge and competent skills in all pharmacy services required from the design of the drug molecule to marketing and subsequent market control in the pharmaceutical industry, where pharmacists are less frequently involved, and to contribute to their professional practices and to train well-equipped pharmacists required by the pharmaceutical industry. It will be very beneficial to graduate from such a program prepared by considering all parts of the industry with the notion of pharmacy for the graduates of chemistry undergraduate, biology and molecular biology undergraduate and chemical engineering graduates who are predominantly working in the pharmaceutical industry and those who are currently working in a field of the pharmaceutical industry. Program Qualifications (Outcomes)

    1. Graduates explain the analytical methods used in drug analysis and research and development studies.
    2. Graduates are knowledgeable about preclinical and clinical studies.
    3. Graduates are knowledgeable about advanced toxicological analyses used in drug research and included in relevant guidelines.
    4. Graduates explain the basic pharmacological concepts and methods used in drug research.
    5. Graduates define and explain pharmaceutical dosage forms.
    6. Graduates explain formulation development studies and different stages of industrial production in pharmaceutical research and development studies.
    7. Graduates are knowledgeable about the research and development of phytopharmaceuticals.
    8. Graduates define the basic concepts of medicinal chemistry necessary in pharmaceutical research and development studies.
    9. Graduates explain basic microbiological concepts required in drug research and development studies.
    10. Graduates gain the ability to conduct independent research by using information from different disciplines in pharmaceutical research and development studies.
    11. Graduates have knowledge about research methods and ethical values ​​used in pharmaceutical research and development studies.

    Transition to Higher Degree Programs Students who graduate from the Pharmaceutical Research and Development Studies Master Program (With Thesis) can apply to Doctoral Programs when they meet the other required conditions. Assessment and Evaluation Course success grade is given to students for each course at the end of the term they are enrolled. Course success grade is obtained by evaluating the success of the student during the term (midterm examinations, homework, applied studies, projects, laboratory, and similar studies) and the general examination. Program courses must be successfully completed in two years at most, with a minimum GPA of 2.50. Graduation Conditions In order for a student enrolled in the graduate program to graduate from the program, it must meet the conditions specified in the Lokman Hekim University Regulation on Graduate Education and Training.  Education Type Education type is full-time. When necessary, courses and examinations can be held after the end of working hours on weekdays and/or on Saturdays and Sundays or online distance learning.
