

PhD Program in Restorative Dentistry
General Information
Lokman Hekim University Institute of Health Sciences Restorative Dental Treatment Doctorate Programme was opened with the decision of the Higher Education Executive Board dated 11.05.2022. The duration of the programme is 4 years and the language of instruction is Turkish.

Aim of the programme
The aim of our doctoral programme is to train professional physicians or academicians who are experts in their field by routinely following/using current knowledge and technologies in the field, as well as having clinical approaches, traditional and state-of-the-art perspectives and competencies within the scope of Restorative Dentistry after 5 years of dental school education.
Programme qualifications (outcomes)
It is aimed to gain expertise in a wide range of treatments such as aesthetic dentistry, minimally invasive dentistry, preventive and preventive dentistry, composite / ceramic laminate applications within the scope of smile design, composite, amalgam filling applications, inlay / onlay / overlay applications, diagnosis and treatment of tooth wear, vital / vital whitening treatments, fracture treatments, post applications.
In addition to these, it is aimed to teach the methods of scientific studies and research, to plan project-supported studies, to encourage participation in various activities on national and international platforms.
Programme application and admission requirements
Student applications to the proposed programme, entrance exams (written / interview), calculation of the general success score and placement of students are made in accordance with the Lokman Hekim University Institute of Health Sciences Graduate Education and Training Directive.
Conditions in the training process
The grading of all educational studies and exams of the student is based on Lokman Hekim University Graduate Education and Training Regulations.
Proficiency exam
The doctoral qualifying exam is an exam applied at the end of the 2nd year of the education process on the basis of the subjects within the scope of Restorative Dentistry.
In order to take the PhD Qualifying Examination, it is necessary to get at least 60 points out of 100 from the central foreign language exams accepted by YÖK or to get the score accepted as equivalent to this score from international foreign language exams accepted as equivalent by ÖSYM.
Thesis Defence, Graduation
In order to graduate from the Restorative Dentistry Doctorate Programme, a total of 21 credits and 240 ECTS credits, including compulsory and elective courses, seminar, proficiency exam, thesis proposal and thesis study, provided that the student's total education and training period is not less than 60 ECTS. Undergraduate courses do not count towards the course load and doctoral courses. The student must successfully complete the courses with an average of at least 3.00.
The student is required to prepare his/her doctoral thesis in the field of Restorative Dental Therapy under the guidance of his/her supervisor and successfully present it orally in front of the jury members. After the completion of the thesis exam, the jury decides on acceptance, rejection or correction of the thesis by absolute majority. The graduation date of the student is the date when the thesis is defended in front of the jury and successful.
