What is dentistry education like?
The duration of vocational education is five years and the mode of education is full-time. In addition to vocational theoretical/practical courses in dentistry, basic medical sciences courses are also given. While the first three years of education include basic medical sciences and dentistry practical courses by applying the committee (board) system, the theoretical and clinical education of Dentistry gains weight in the last two years. In the third year of education, students participate in clinical observer practice, while in the last two years, they participate in clinical practice studies in all areas under the control of Dentistry faculty members.
Is dentistry education difficult?
Dental education is theoretical and practical and requires an intense study discipline. Along with basic medical courses such as anatomy, biochemistry, pharmacology, applications requiring manual skills are performed.
Is there practical training at the faculty of dentistry?
Students first develop their manual skills by working on models and phantom models in preclinical laboratories. Then they perform treatment on patients with clinical training.
Are manual skills important for studying dentistry?
Dentistry is a profession that requires both academic success and good manual dexterity. It is important that students have the ability to work with detail and precision. Practical skill is developed through repetition. Students with advanced manual dexterity successfully complete an application with fewer repetitions, while students with less developed manual dexterity learn the same application with more repetitions and reach the desired level over time. Students' manual skills are systematically developed through practices during the education process.
In which year do dental students start seeing patients?
Clinical internships start in the fourth year and students have the opportunity to work with real patients.
Are clinical practices paid?
There is no additional charge for the clinical practice that students do.
Is dentistry education costly?
Although dental education is thought to be more costly compared to many other departments, expensive materials such as motors used in the preclinic during the education process are supplied by our university, while cheap materials (such as soap, toothed jaws, plastic teeth) are covered by the students. Most of the equipment required for clinical applications (such as hand tools, filling and prosthesis materials) are provided to students by our university.

Students graduate from Dentistry with a master's degree.
What are the job opportunities after graduating from Dentistry?
Dentistry graduates can work in state hospitals or oral and dental health centers. Graduates can be appointed to these positions by applying to the vacancies determined by the state. If they want to work privately, they can open their own clinics after undergraduate education. In paramedical fields, they can work in commercial organizations that produce and market oral dental health care products, produce and market tools and devices.
Can dentists open their own practice?

Is there a specialization in Dentistry?
There are eight specialties in Dentistry. After their undergraduate education, dentistry graduates can take the DUS exams (Specialization Examination in Dentistry) opened by the Ministry of Health after their undergraduate education and receive their specialization by working in a state or private university hospital for 3-4 years according to their score. After receiving their specialization, they can work in hospitals by appointment or open their own clinics, and if certain conditions are met, they can also work as lecturers in universities. 3) Oral, Dental and Maxillofacial Radiology:
It is the department where all diagnosis and treatment planning related to the soft and hard tissues in the oral cavity is performed. Specialization training is three years.
4) Prosthodontics:
It is the department that provides the restoration of the function, aesthetics, comfort and health of the hard tissues in the oral cavity that have deteriorated, lost or lost. Specialized training is three years.
5) Endodontics:
It is the department that deals with the treatment of diseases arising from the tissues that are located inside the tooth and are involved in its nutrition and protection. Specialized training is three years.
6) Restorative Dental Treatment:
It is the department that repairs the loss of material in the hard tissues of the teeth and restores the lost aesthetics and function to the patient. Specialization training is three years.
7) Periodontology:
It is the department that examines the tissues around the teeth and teeth and deals with the diagnosis and treatment of diseases occurring in these tissues. Specialized training is three years.
8) Pediatric Dentistry:
It is the department that examines and treats the oral and dental health of children from birth to the end of adolescence. Specialization training is three years.
