Lokman Hekim University Halal Product Application and Research Center (LHUHAM) was established in Ankara in 2021 within Lokman Hekim University (LHU), which has a pioneering and research and development-oriented corporate culture in the field of health. Committed to Islamic, ethical and cultural values, the Center aims to mediate the delivery of clean, healthy and halal products to humanity by conducting effective, sustainable and reliable studies thanks to LHU's quarter-century of health experience with its high quality hospitals, strong academic and expert staff, scientific and technological infrastructure. The Center operates in a wide range of product groups such as food, medicine, cosmetics, cleaning and disinfectants, as well as services such as food and beverage and tourism. It carries out these activities in the fields of Halal certification, education and R&D.
Halal certification: It is a conformity assessment activity that guarantees that products and services are delivered to consumers as halal. It is based on halal standards prepared by the Standards and Metrology Institute of Islamic Countries (SMIIC). It inspects, evaluates and certifies products and services in a consistent, impartial, independent and transparent manner. It controls the reliability of the document by monitoring the organizations after certification. Education: It aims to create social awareness about halal products and services and to increase the competence of those working in the field of halal. Within this framework, it organizes scientific meetings, congresses, symposiums and workshops; publishes publications; organizes theoretical and practical programs and provides trainings. R&D: It aims to conduct scientific and applied studies and manage these studies in order to identify and solve problems in the field of scientific research and halal product industry. It develops new inspection and test methods; provides laboratory services and produces all kinds of digital materials.
